We have just launched Twitter celebrity @bluegape (Twitter Celeb). You can calculate your twitter score and have your tweets printed on merchandise. Others will buy the merchandise and you get the royalty. Well, not just anyone because you need to cross two filters to become a TwitterCeleb @Bluegape.

1) Your celebrity score should atleast be greater than 200 to start the Fan Store with bluegape (which we counts)

2) The content curation team check the quality of your tweet with respect to possibility of printing on a merchandise.

Go, try it out, see if you’re a Twitter Celeb. We will wait for your feedback.

P.S. : I still tweet @sbaghla

We are glad to inform you all that we have raised a seed round of funding from Aniket KheraRahul Bhatia and one more Internet Entrepreneur.

We are trying to become one stop destination for all brands who want to launch their Fan Merchandising in India, be it Mountain Dew with their ‘darr ke aage jeet hai’ tagline or Vodafone with their ‘Zoozoos characters’ or Yashraj Films for their ‘any movie’. We are also speaking to some international brands who want to launch their Fan Merchandising in India.

We will use this money to improve our services. We promise to deliver the best products of your favorite brands :-)

I am one of the biggest Fan of Delhi based venture ‘yourquote’. Because of the Originality of Idea, and the way it was executed ‘initially’. I was following each and every update when ‘yourquote’ was about to launch. I was hoping to see one great Indian Startup making an impact globally through ‘yourquote’.

The day I saw the facebook update of Amol that he has left ‘yourquote’, I was sad to foresee death of a great Indian startup. Few days later when I saw the update of Rishabh that he has also left the venture and joined some company as COO, it was again shocking.

As soon as I realized that Rishabh has almost left ‘yourquote’ as an orphaned baby, I called him to meet immediately. I met Rishabh in Select City walk and gave an acquisition offer with an all cash deal i.e. : multicrores. I am kidding. It was multi lakhs offer, of what I had in bluegape bank account. See, I got ready to take the risk of an all cash deal to buyout such a great startup. Even I paid 10% advance of the deal. I made all the agreement but backed out on the day I have to pay rest of the money after realizing legal complexities that founders have created in last one year. My advance was left with Rishabh. I got criticized in team for wasting 10% of bluegape’s money.

After reading this book, I can give you 10 reasons why ‘yourquote’ failed. What not to do in a startup :

1) Don’t discuss serious matter/criticism over emails. Handle them face to face. First time when one of the founder criticized other over an email that took ‘yourquote’ one step closed to death.

2) Never ever sleep with employee no matter how hot, seductive she is. The day Amol made intimate relation with Shikha that was another step close to death of ‘yourquote’. Employees might sleep with each other but as a founder you have to maintain a feet of distance.

3) Never let relationship take more attention than your startup. After sixth fight with Priya, Amol should have broken up. Relationships are hard and handling two of them at a time is impossible.

4) The day Amol realized that Rishabh is spending more time with Anjali than ‘yourquote’. Amol should have tried to bring Rishabh on track for 15 days and after that firing was the only option. Amol must have fired him right away. I know it sounds terrible but it might have saved ‘yourquote’.

5) CEO, CMO, CTO titles are good for nothing. I felt terrible when Amol and Rishabh were fighting for the Title of CEO. The title should have been given out of respect to other co-founder. These titles are made to be earned with the quality of work.

6) Tech guys deserve lot of respect. Tech guy of ‘yourquote’ had one year left in college but he was the only choice for Amol and Rishabh. When he demanded for 30% shares & instead of that Amol offered him 10%, the deal could have settled at 20%. Letting him go was the biggest mistake. It was pure internet business. Tech guy deserves that.

7) Don’t rush for money, put all the time in building great business. And let the money rush for you. Amol and Rishabh spent more time participating in business plans, elevator pitch sessions than on brainstorming sessions among team.

8) Internet company with two non-tech founders is not a good idea. Amol and Rishabh both had no clue of coding and scaling an Internet business without tech knowledge in founding team is impossible.

9) Never blame each other for the delay. Try to make things work anyhow. When one investor criticized Amol and Rishabh for no progress in tech side. Rishabh started the blame game. That was the most stupid thing I can imagine in a startup.

10) Startups are tough, cry less, work more !

P.S. : All of ‘em are my personal opinions.

P.P.S. : Few rockstars are building India’s Biggest Fan Merchandising store at bluegape.com

P.P.P.S. : I still tweet @sbaghla

Look at this picture : The Pope is presented a signed Lionel Messi Jersey with a personal message at the Vatican. The Pope, Like Messi, is from Argentina.

Now can you imagine it in India, some big persona presented a Hockey Team Jersey ? When you wear a Jersey of your favorite team or club, it gives a special feel of ownership. Remember how special people feel after holding tricolor merchandise in India v/s Pakistan cricket match ? We ignore fan merchandise in India. Be it sports, movie, brand or anything. Fan Merchandise is not only a great promotional tool but it also opens up a new stream for revenue. Disney alone made $ 37 billion from Fan Merchandise last year.

We are a bunch of rockstars at bluegape.com, who are trying to make Fan Merchandise a new fashion statement in India. Whatever we are doing is unique and different. It will be done for the first time in India on such a massive scale which makes our each day fucking exciting.

In west, even KFC have their Fan Merchandise whether you’re left wing, right wing or somewhere in between :-)

Few brands have already trusted us and we have their Fan Merchandise store at bluegape.com ! If you are a brand and looking to launch Fan Merchandise, get in touch with us at founders@bluegape.com !! Happy Gaping :-)

  2. Would you like to bathe in a bath tub full of industry chemicals? Then, why pollute rivers with the industry waste? Take a resolution keep our rivers/water resources as clean as possible or at least raise a voice against something happening like that.
  3. Would you like to breathe in smoke while sitting comfortably in your room? Then why pollute the fresh air with smoke? Take a resolution to avoid using four wheelers as much as possible, use a bicycle instead.
  4. Would you like to have a shower of acid rain? Then, why let our homeland suffer the consequences of acid rain alone? Take a resolution to avoid wasting our energy resources and plant as much trees as possible.
